Here is my Fragrance Story on "Do Son Eau de Toilette" by diptyque, released in limited edition blue glass.
How diptyque described Do Son eau de toilette:
"As a child, Yves Coueslant, one of diptyque’s founders, spent his summers at a pagoda on the seaside that his father had built in Do Son, in Halong Bay. Far from the humid heat of the large port in Haiphong, the air was cooler. The sea breeze carried with it the heady and slightly spicy scent of tuberoses, a favorite of his mother.
Do Son is the embodiment of precious and persistent memories from a childhood spent in Indochina. Memories of flowers, hovering between refreshing and enveloping."
"In this limited edition, Do Son is clad in blue. An evocation of fresh tuberoses mingling with the sea air, the turquoise water blending into the sky in the distance. The mood inspiring a mysterious fragrance that permeates the night. An invitation to set your imagination adrift."
The nose behind this fragrance is Fabrice Pellegrin. Do Son was first released in 2005.

My Thoughts on Do Son EDT:
The Bottle: Do Son is not new to the diptyque family. It was first created in 2005. However, this year, it was released in the limited edition blue glass that you see here. The limited edition collection includes a EDT in 100ml, candle, the EDP, and a hand cream. I was very attracted to the limited edition packaging because it resonated so well with Do Son being a Marine Accord fragrance, The dark blue glass seems illuminated from within.
The Scent: You just can't go wrong with Do Son. It is a very appealing fragrance. On first smell, you immediately get the sense of being transported to a warm summer's day on the beach. A mixture of floral, sea salt, and even sunscreen fills the nose. Very evocative. The Tuberose comes through fairly strongly as the fragrance "matures".
The Dry Down: This beautiful fragrance has top notes of African Orange flower, iris and Rose; middle notes of Tuberose and Pink Pepper; and base notes of Benzoin and Musk. The dry down is beautiful and happens rather smoothly and softly as it fills the olfactory senses. The florals are nicely offset by the pink pepper and the fragrance is ground with the musk.
The Tastes: More rose water than anything, with maybe a touch of sea salt and pink pepper.
The Colours: Bright Summer Sun and definitely the blues and greens of the great ocean.
The Feelings: It makes me feel like I am laying down on the beach and I can hear sea gulls and the waves of the Ocean. I can feel the warm sand running through my fingers.
The Wear Time: This is the EDT version, even then, I felt like it performed amazingly well. A good 5-6 hours..
Suggested occasions to wear this: This is a nice Summer scent. One that you can use everyday.
Overall: A legend re-released in limited edition packaging, I do love Do Son in all its forms. Get it while you can!
